![]() ![]() I’d like to reflect on the intersex story, though, given its contemporary intersection with an underdiscussed historical occurrence: the conscious intercession of physicians when encountering intersex individuals at birth regarding their subsequent gender. That’s all well and good-and some chart scrutinization would surely help untangle the proceedings. ![]() This is a story, largely, in two parts: on one hand, an exposition-heavy recounting of one intersex person’s life, conveyed through the frame of a patron discussing their life with the barkeep and at the same time, a sped-up series of time-traveling manipulations by our protagonist, that patron, during which we find out that they are actually every other character in the narrative, male and female, albeit at different stages in “his” own life. And it’s not that I couldn’t use them to make greater sense of the story it’s just that I’m looking for another way in. I’m sure the graphs laying out all the time-jump contortions at work in this famous story exist. ![]()
